3 Phases of Chiropractic Care at Utah Spine & Sport

Laying the Foundation for Total Health With Chiropractic Care

In some ways, one could say that chiropractic care is like building a house. Certain things need to happen in a particular order for everything to stand strong and work together correctly. Just as a house needs a solid foundation before building walls and a roof, your body needs a foundation for good health. If something is not right with your body's foundation, that needs to be addressed before true health can be achieved. With chiropractic care, your body follows a plan of care to repair itself correctly and fully.

There are three general phases of chiropractic care:

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come to our Pleasant Grove Chiropractic Office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Typically, a patient needs care 2-3 times per week for 1-3 weeks, depending on the severity of the underlying condition causing pain.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care

During the corrective phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal is to bring your body back to 100% functioning. Typically, care is needed 2-3 times per month, depending on overall health and the severity of the problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing pain, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid future problems. Usually, this phase of care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor once every 1-3 months, based on your lifestyle and goals.
